Message From Ill. John Heisner
WELCOME back, brethren, to what we hope will prove to be a new chapter in living with Covid-19. Our first gathering of Scottish Rite Masons will be held at Oakland on September 10th and 11th. There, we will honor our new KCCH (Red Hats), Dan Oates and Roy Pool. We will also coronet our newest 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason (White Hat), Arman Ordian. The Valley of Palm Springs is proud to note that we will be sending a sizable contingent to Oakland.
Later, at our stated meeting in September 2021, we will host our S.G.I.G. Frank Loui and his wife Jeannie. Illustrious Frank will preside over our Cap and Ring ceremony at our second public event. If you read the Voice, you will note the date, time, and very liberal rules for this event. Be pleased to make your reservations early, as we may run out of room for you otherwise.
Take a moment to peruse the Valley's new website which is intended to carry a lot of valuable information about the Scottish Rite and our Valley. Since we are considered the "University of Freemasonry," Take a look at our new and developing data bank of Masonic writings. For the time being, the data bank will consist primarily of writings by our membership. In that other Valleys are also developing new masonic education programs and will soon be recognized on our website. More information about our Valley's program will be provided in the months ahead and I invite all of you to "stay tuned."
I wish to take a moment and thank all of the brethren who have reached out to me during my fight with bile duct cancer. The doctors tell me that I am now cancer-free, but the battle is not yet completed. My absence from time to time has, in hindsight, proven beneficial to the Valley. Your leadership has stepped forward and I believe it is stronger than before.
Necessity is the mother of invention, someone once wrote. Our leadership has been challenged with ways to meet remotely and provided us with greater insight as to how best we may use that tool in the future.
Finally, welcome to our newest Masters of the Royal Secret - those 32nd degree Scottish Rite Masons who have begun their respective journeys. You will only be disappointed in your choice to join us if you don't take advantage of the lessons Scottish Rite has to teach in your personal and public masonic education endeavors. I look forward to working with all of you.
